NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ORDINANCE #2025-1
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING MCPHERSON COUNTY ORDINANCE #2024-1, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING REGULATIONS FOR DATA PROCESSING CENTERS IN MCPHERSON COUNTY
Notice is hereby given that the McPherson County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting to receive public input concerning McPherson County’s proposed zoning regulations for Data Processing Centers in McPherson County. The Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the McPherson County Commission concerning the adoption of the Zoning Regulations. The hearing will be held at the McPherson County Courthouse at the following time on the following date:
At the McPherson County Courthouse at 9:05 AM on Tuesday, the 13th day of May, 2025.
Copies of the proposed zoning regulations are available for public review during normal business hours at the McPherson County Courthouse and available for review through the County website at mcpherson.sdcounties.org or by contacting the County Zoning Officer at the County Courthouse or by emailing the DOE at [email protected]
At the Public Hearing, all persons will be given a full, fair, and complete hearing and are encouraged to attend and make their views known. Those not able to attend are invited and encouraged to send written comments to the County Zoning Officer, Hunter Heinrich, at P.O. Box 50, Leola, SD 57456.

May 13th 2025 Data Center Ordinance for Public Hearing
Notice of Hearing Upon
Application for Drainage Permit
NOTICE IS, HEREBY GIVEN: Scott Schauer has applied for drainage permit #25-D-04 to improve drainage in the SE ¼ of the SE ¼ of 16-127N-67W (Koto Township). Proposed work is to put drain tile on this land and to have it flow into a grass waterway to the east. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN: That said application shall be considered by the McPherson County Drainage Board on June 3rd, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Room of the McPherson County Courthouse located in Leola, South Dakota. At this time and place, any person interested in the approval or rejection of such application may appear and be heard.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION
RESOLUTION 25-14 “A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR MCPHERSON COUNTY, AS PROVIDED FOR IN SDCL 11-2”
Notice is hereby given that Resolution 25-14 “A Resolution adopting a Comprehensive Plan for McPherson County as provided for in SDCL 11-2” has been adopted. McPherson County is adopting this resolution to enhance the responsible development of McPherson County and the surrounding area. This resolution was duly adopted by the County Commission on the 6th day of May, 2025, and will become effective on the 3rd day of June, 2025.

It is required by McPherson County Zoning Ordinance #10-2 that a building permit is required for any improvements on or to any structure/building in which the market value of the improvements exceeds $3,000 for property in Long Lake, Wetonka, Hillsview and rural McPherson County. If you are a resident of the City of Eureka or the City of Leola, you are required to acquire a building permit from your respective city.
To obtain a building permit, contact the McPherson County Equalization Office. If a building permit is not obtained, a fine will be applied according to Resolution 23-2 which was adopted by the McPherson County Commissioners at the January 3rd, 2023 meeting. Please call the McPherson County Equalization Office at 605-439-3663 if you have any questions.
